What is the FAFSA Form?

Colleges and career schools use the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form to determine how much financial aid you are eligible to receive, which could include grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and student loans.

Who should complete the FAFSA form?

Any student, regardless of income, who wants to be considered for federal, state, and school financial aid programs. This includes grants, scholarships, work-study-funds, and student loans. The FAFSA is for US citizens, permanent residents, eligible noncitizens, or T-visa holders who possess a valid social security number.

• Parent or spouse contributor's

Did you know?

As of September 2022 Assembly Bill 469 requires that school districts or schools ensure that 12th-grade students who have not opted out, as specified, complete and submit a FAFSA or, if the student is exempt from paying nonresident tuition under existing law, completes and submits a form for purposes of the California Dream Act.
